Global Women’s March for Iran in Washington, DC
A young boy carries a toy and sign about Pirooz, the Asiatic cheetah cub who recently died in captivity in Iran, during a protest against the Islamic regime of Iran. Pirooz's name means "victorious" in Farsi, one of the reasons he became an emblem of the uprisings following the death of Mahsa Zhina Amini in custody of Iran's morality police. As one of only 12 remaining critically endangered Asiatic cheetahs, his plight (rejected by his mother), represented what critics claim is yet another failure of the Islamic regime to protect life in Iran.
