A woman holds a cardboard sign that reads, 'AESH we want: a status, real substitutes, having the possibility to compete at the internal exams of National Education'. Following a nationwide call by the FSU, CGT'Education, SNALC, and SUD Education to strike and protest, AESH ('accompagnant d'eleve en situation de handicap') protest in Toulouse, France, on January 16, 2025. The acronym AESH stands for ''Support Assistant for Disabled Pupils''. As the National Education Ministry sees its sixth minister in two years, AESH still await better working conditions and better wages. Mainly women work as AESH, often living under the poverty line. A poignant moment occurs during a demonstration for the rights of people with disabilities in Munich, Germany, on October 25, 2024. The Disability Advisory Council of Munich organizes the event, which aligns with the objectives of the United Nations' International Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed annually on December 3. The rally highlights the need to address accessibility challenges and implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. A humorous yet thought-provoking sign in the demonstration depicts a caricature of a wheelchair with an attached toilet, accompanied by the text: 'Wenn Sie viel in Munchen unterwegs sind, wurde ich Ihnen dieses Modell empfehlen.' ('If you travel a lot in Munich, I'd recommend this model.'). The poster underlines the ongoing struggles for adequate facilities and accessibility for people with disabilities in public spaces. The demonstration emphasizes the need for implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and fostering inclusion as a basic human right.
