Balinese youths carry a large statue around a village in Klungkung Regency, Bali, Indonesia, on March 18, 2026. The Ogoh-Ogoh parade takes place on the eve of Nyepi. The giant statue symbolizes negative traits to ward off disaster, purify the environment, and expel evil spirits from the village. The parade is held before Nyepi, a day of silence during which people are prohibited from leaving their homes, working, and lighting fires or lamps for 24 hours, dedicated to silence, self-control, self-reflection, meditation, and introspection to achieve inner balance and harmony.
