Bangladesh Gach Raksha Andolan, an organization that works on environmental issues, holds a red alert program to demand the control of air pollution and the issuance of emergency health warnings in the Kawran Bazar area in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on December 20, 2024. Recently, Dhaka ranks 1st on the list of the world's most polluted cities in terms of air pollution. The World Bank reports 78,145 - 88,229 fatalities in Bangladesh from air pollution in 2019. Another research finds that pollution shortens Bangladeshi life expectancy by 6.8 years. Unfortunately, hundreds of complaints and a fatality are required to bring the issue to light.
