Plastics and other pollutants used in decoration of Durga idols for the festival season , reaches the river water of Ganges as the idols are immersed into it following ritual at the end of Durga puja festival in Kolkata. Authorities and municipal workers are on the alert and working overtime to clear these debris from the water to prevent any further pollution of Ganges.
