The Arjuna Road section was cut off due to soil movement and landslides in Bandungan Hamlet, Kalongan Village, East Ungaran District, Semarang Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia on January 18, 2023. Based on the results of a study by the Geological Engineering Department Team at Diponegoro University (Undip), the impact of ground movement still has the potential to expand within a 100 meter radius from the current landslide point with a fairly wide impact coverage, reaching 16 hectares.

Persija Jakarta football club supporters held a candle light vigil for Arema FC supporters who became a victims of soccer riots, in Jakarta, on October 2, 2022. At least 174 peoples dead and hundreds injuried in a riots at a soccer match between Arema FC and Persebaya FC in Kanjuruhan stadium, East Java province on Saturday night, Oct 1st. The riots occurred when thousands of Arema supporters stormed the field after their team lost 2-3 to Persebaya FC. Police tried to control the situation by firing tear gas which sparked riots and panic among supporters as they scrambled for the exit gate. The tragedy become one of deadliest sporting stadium disasters in the world.
