A city worker wears protective clothing as haze from wildfire smoke is seen in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on June 6, 2025. Toronto's air quality ranks among the worst in the world today as smoke from wildfires burning in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta drifts into the region. Toronto's air quality is currently the second most polluted major city in the world, according to a ranking by IQAir, a Swiss air quality technology company. This places it below Santiago, Chile, and above Montreal, which is in third place as it also faces wildfire smoke from western provinces. Environment Canada urges residents to limit their time spent outdoors and suggests that people consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities, and events. Environment Canada notes that smoke may cause mild irritation to the eyes, nose, and throat, and may lead to headaches or a mild cough, as well as wheezing, chest pains, or severe cough.

A woman holds a placard reading 'Today's children are tomorrow's citizens'. Between 8,000 and 10,000 protesters march in Toulouse, France, on December 5, 2024, called by all trade unions except FO to protest against the new budget for France in 2025. Workers in public services see the waiting period for illness leave increase from one day to three, their pay while on illness leave cut by 10%, and all their bonuses eliminated. They primarily protest against the reduction of public services such as education, health, child protection, and public finances. Barnier's budget plans nearly EUR40 billion in cuts to public services. Some protesters want to remind President Macron that the first coalition elected in June in the French Parliament is the New Popular Front. The unions involved include CGT, CFDT, UNSA, FSU, Solidaires, CFE-CGC, and FA-FP. Similar protests take place elsewhere in France.
