Eva Meliana Pasaribu, daughter of the late Rico Sempurna Pasaribu who is the victim of premeditated murder, is delivering a press statement to journalists accompanied by representatives of the Medan Legal Aid Institute (LBH) and the Journalist Safety Committee (KKJ) after providing evidence and information to the Regional Military Police (Pomdam) I/Bukit Barisan in Medan City, North Sumatra, Indonesia, on July 18, 2024. In this premeditated murder, 4 victims are dying by being burned alive in their homes in the Karo Regency area, North Sumatra. The four murder victims are Rico Sempurna Pasaribu, who is a Tribrata TV journalist, Efrida Ginting, Rico Sempurna Pasaribu's wife, Sudiinveseti Pasaribu, and Lowi Situngkir, Rico Sempurna Pasaribu's grandson. Most recently, the North Sumatra Regional Police are naming 3 suspects in the murder plot, the three suspects namely Yunus Syahputra Tarigan, Rudi Apri Sembiring as the executor of the house burner, and Bebas Ginting as the person who is giving the order. However, according to the victim's daughter, Eva Meliana Pasaribu, TNI members are suspected of being involved in the death of her family based on the evidence found.

Nurhalimah, who lost both her parents and a younger brother to the Sinabung volcano's eruption on May 21, 2016, has yet to receive confirmation from the Indonesian government about the relocation house promised as a solution for the disaster's victims.
