The Eurasian collared dove, or Indian ringed dove (Streptopelia decaocto), is a medium-sized species native to Europe and Asia. It has been introduced to Japan, North America, and islands in the Caribbean. The dove is grey-buff to pinkish-grey overall, slightly darker above than below, with a blue-grey underwing patch. It features a distinctive black half-collar edged with white on its nape, from which it derives its name. The Eurasian collared dove is not migratory but is highly dispersive. Over the last century, it has become one of the great colonizers of the bird world, extending its range to colder countries and becoming a permanent resident in several of them. These doves are monogamous. A Eurasian collared dove is perched on a custard apple (Annona reticulata) tree in a forest in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, as of 17 April 2024.

24 February 2024

(EDITOR'S NOTE: Image is a composition of 4 interval timer photos to show moon rising path) Full “snow moon” shining behind clouds is seen from L’Aquila, Italy, on February 24th, 2024. The name "Snow Moon" comes from ancient Native American traditions. At this time of year, in many parts of North America, snow was still on the ground, giving the moon a particular color and brightness. Our satellite will reach its apogee, the farthest point from Earth in its orbit: it will appear about 7% smaller and 15% less bright than a normal full moon. Full Moon of February 24th, 2024 will be the smallest of the year.

The black-naped monarch or black-naped blue flycatcher (Hypothymis azurea) is a slim and agile colorful passerine bird belonging to the family of monarch flycatchers found in tropical forest habitats of southern and south-eastern Asia. They are sexually dimorphic, with the male having a distinctive black patch on the back of the head and a narrow black half collar (''necklace''), while the female is duller with olive-brown wings and lacking the black markings on the head. Populations differ slightly in plumage colour and sizes. These little birds are hard to find because it's roaming the forest ground level in dim light to catch insects and hide behind leaves. A female black-naped monarch or black-naped blue flycatcher (Hypothymis azurea) is flying frequent sorties to catch airborne insects at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on 18/04/2023.

KRAKOW, POLAND - MARCH 12: One of the 70 metal sculpture chairs of various sizes, commemorating the victims of the Holocaust, referring to the abandoned furniture lying around the square during the liquidation of the ghetto, seen on the 80th anniversary of the liquidation of the Krakow Ghetto, in Krakow, Poland, on March 12, 2023. The March of Remembrance marked the 80th anniversary of the liquidation of the ghetto in Krakow's Podgorze, where 17,000 Jews were confined during World War II. The march followed the path taken by Jews forced to leave the ghetto for forced labor and death at the former KL Plaszow concentration camp, where two thousand were brutally killed in March 1943. Through this event, organisers honor their memories and emphasize the importance of respect, tolerance, and compassion for all individuals.
