Amidst this , the steady declining number has sparked a spree among citizen as they flocked towards markets for shopping , sometime even without any proper protection. Scientist are still baffled with the achievement of India and warns the citizens to not take lightly and devoid oneself of covid protocols seeing the numbers .

A temporary COVID testing center at Gangasagar transit camp in Kolkata.Gangasagar fair is the second biggest congregration of Hindu pilgrims after Kumbh mela. The Gangasagar mela is observed annually on Sagar island.Every year during Makar Sankranti , devotees from all over the country visits sagar island to take a holy dip in the confluence of Ganges and Bay of Bengal and then worshiping at Kapil Muni Ashram at the Island. The temple is highly revered among devotees.This year the fair will be restricted and under strict COVID protocols by the government , the usual crowd would be controlled and restricted to avoid any kind of contamination of the new mutant COVID strain according to Government advisory.
