Bayonne police and the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office are investigating a police-involved shooting in the parking lot of Burger King in Bayonne, New Jersey, United States on July 13, 2023. Evidence markers could be seen in the parking lot of the Burger King located at West 53rd and Broadway. A bumper from a car could also be seen in the parking lot. Authorities could be seen collecting the evidence. The shooting was reported around 8:00 AM Eastern Time, Thursday morning. The police shooting is the second one in less than a week in Hudson County. Last Saturday night, a task force fatally shot a man in Jersey City, New Jersey who was wanted for a homicide in Orlando, Florida.

On Thursday, May 3, 2023 at 8:33 p.m., Newark police responded to a report of a shooting in an apartment on the 300 block of Johnson Avenue, Newark. The decedents from that shooting are Wyleek Shaw, 27 of Newark; an 8-year-old boy who will be identified by his initials (Z.L) because he is a juvenile; and the alleged suspect, Everette Rand, 29, of Newark. Another victim, Tajion Simmons, 24, of Fords, N.J., was treated for non-fatal injuries.
