Thousands of demonstrators clash with police while holding Indonesian flags during a protest against the revision of the Regional Head Election Bill (RUU) in front of the West Java DPRD Building in Bandung, Indonesia, on August 22, 2024. The protest also takes place in several regions in Indonesia and is attended by tens of thousands of students, workers, and civil society. Indonesia's Constitutional Court rules on August 20 that parties do not need a minimum of 20 percent representation in their regional assemblies to nominate a candidate and also decides to uphold the current minimum age limit of 30 for candidates. The constitutional court's ruling bars the president's youngest son from running in regional contests in Central Java.

Today the first day of strike in the Liga F took place, called by the players in disagreement with the economic conditions of women's soccer. The players ask for a collective agreement with a minimum salary of 25,000 euros. This amount has been rejected by the Professional Soccer League. For this reason, no match has been played, including FC Barcelona-Valencia CF. Only the referees, the representatives of both clubs and a representative of the F League staff have attended the Johan Cruyff stadium, in Barcelona, on 10th September 2023.

A Capitol Police officer’s sunglasses reflect the line formed by his colleagues during a protest against Congress’s likely vote to overturn the first revision of Washington, DC’s criminal code in more than 100 years. The controversy over the bill stems from two issues: autonomy for the District of Columbia and changes in sentencing guidelines. In voting not to approve the bill, Congress will override the decision of DC’s duly elected representatives, almost half of whom are African-American.
