A number of prospective Hajj pilgrims are exchanging their rupiah for riyals with members of the Hajj and Umrah Guidance Group (KBIHU), Al Mukarromah, in preparation for their departure to Mecca on May 20, in Medan City, North Sumatra, Indonesia, on Sunday, May 12, 2024. The Ministry of Religion, through the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah (PHU), has announced the list of names of prospective regular Hajj pilgrims included in the 1445 Hijri 2024 Hajj quota allocation. Indonesia has received a total Hajj quota of 241,000 pilgrims, an increase of 20,000 from the previous year. Meanwhile, according to data from the Regional Office of the North Sumatra Ministry of Religion, the regular Hajj quota for 2024 for the people of North Sumatra is set to reach 8,624 people.

A former Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Oleh Kulinich attends a court hearing in Shevchenkovsky District Court in Kyiv, Ukraine on 17 October 2023, amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In April 2023, State Bureau of Investigation employees completed the investigation of the criminal proceedings on high treason against Oleh Kulinich, former Head of the SBU Main Directorate in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the State Bureau of Investigation website reported. Oleh Kulinich was detained on 16 July 2022 during a special operation by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine. Kulinich is suspected of high treason in favor of Russia, according to local media.
