Coconut farmers in the region complain of copra prices at the merchant level collectors that continue to decline. The current price is only around IDR 10,000 ($ 0.6) per kilogram, even though previously it was valued at IDR 15,000 ($ 1) per kilogram. Sigi Regency contributes around 30 percent of total copra production in Central Sulawesi. Indonesia's copra commodity exports in the first semester of 2018 rose 13.02 percent to $ 185.98 million.

A Turkish prosecutor on 15 October has entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to investigate the disappearance of dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, an inspection that was being carried out jointly with a Saudi team. Khashoggi went missing on 02 October when he entered the Saudi consulate to pick up paperwork.
