Three sites make up the monument: the location where Till’s body was pulled from the Tallahatchie River following his murder in 1955, the courtroom where his murderers were acquitted by an all-white jury, both in Mississippi, as well as the Roberts Temple Church of God in Christ, where Till’s mother, Mamie Till-Mobley had an open-casket funeral for her son. One of the tractor trailers participating in the trucker convoy that has been targeting Washington, DC for the past week displays flags and a banner as the convoy circles the Capital Beltway again on March 11. The truckers and their supporters are demanding an end to the state of emergency declared for the coronavirus pandemic, as well as an end to national mask and vaccine mandates, even though no such mandates exist.
