Oppopnents Gather After Judges Authorize The Resomption Of Works On The Planned A69 Highway

Thomas Brail, founder of the GNSA (National Group of Trees Watching), speaks to the press after the gathering. In Toulouse, France, on May 28, 2025, opponents of the planned A69 highway gather after the decision of the Cour d'Appel Administrative (Administrative Court of Appeal) of Toulouse, which greenlights the resumption of leveling works on the A69 highway. The Administrative Court of Toulouse decides on February 27 to suspend all works on the A69 project highway between Toulouse and Castres. NGE/Atosca files an appeal against this decision and asks the Court to let the works continue during the time the appeal is judged. Two senators and two MPs from the Tarn department propose a retroactive law to authorize the building of the A69, saying they want to bypass the decision of the Administrative Court of Toulouse. Atosca states that all leveling works have begun and that more than 70% of highway structures are completed. However, the leveling works and highway structure do not match the numbers given by Atosca. Additionally, several problems plague the work, such as water evacuation and protection of species. The main association, 'La Voie est Libre' (i.e., 'The Way is Free'), and opponents want the building of the highway to be stopped until all judicial decisions on the content are given. All expropriations for farmers are not cleared. Opponents of this project say that the reprofiling of the N126 will be sufficient for the 6,000 vehicles planned per day and would cost far less money. The A69 highway will cost EUR512 million (in 2018 euros without inflation) for 54 kilometers. More than 100 protected species and 400 hectares of agricultural fields will be destroyed.

The placard reads 'Let's rejoin I.C.E. For an abortion for everyone in Europe.' Women from the collective NousToutes and other organizations such as SUD or Amnesty International organize a nationwide march in France against femicides, sexual violence, and patriarchy. Several thousands of people, women and men, take to the streets for this day. They demand more measures from the French government to protect women beaten, injured, or killed by their partners. They say that 65% of killed women came to the police to make a complaint, but the police classified the complaints. They also ask the police to have better training to pay attention to these complaints. Feminist organizations demand at least EUR2.6 billion per year as necessary to tackle violence against women. In 2023, more than 270,000 women are victims of violence by their partners. In Toulouse, France, on November 23, 2024.

Vincent is placing a banner on the London plane tree in a small neighborhood in Toulouse, France, on May 2, 2024. The residents have sought assistance from the NGO GNSA (National Group of Trees Observation) to protect this tree, which is at least 80 years old, from being cut down. Vincent, a GNSA member, is hanging a banner that cites a French constitutional law stating, ''Everybody has the duty to contribute to the preservation and improvement of the environment.'' The town hall argues that it is simpler to cut the tree down as its roots are starting to damage the concrete. Trees are known to combat the urban heat island effect through their shade and evapotranspiration. The locals express their fondness for the birdsong in the morning and emphasize the tree's importance in cooling the area during the increasingly frequent summer heatwaves. They also mention that the tree's shade reduces the temperature by nearly 4?C.

The moringa tree (Moringa oleifera) is cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions and is known as the ''miracle tree'' or ''tree of life'' because of its many medicinal uses. The leaves of the moringa tree are rich in protein and bioactive compounds and are reported to have antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Moringa oleifera is a nutritious herb that contains almost all the vitamins found in fruits and vegetables. Moringa leaves can reduce blood sugar and cholesterol levels. The moringa tree contains many nutrients and bioactive compounds, including vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, proteins, and amino acids. The leaves have about as much potassium as a banana and about the same amount of vitamin C as an orange. They also contain calcium, protein, iron, and amino acids, which help the body heal and build muscle. Moringa contains vitamins E and C, which can help speed up brain functions and prevent neuronal cell oxidation. It also contains high levels of B vitamins, which help protect the blood-brain barrier and produce hormones that can improve mood and reduce stress. The fruit of the moringa is typically a 3-valved capsule, up to 10 to 60 cm in length, and is also often identified as a ''pod,'' resembling a drumstick (hence the name ''drumstick tree''). A popular Bengali recipe involves stir-fried moringa leaves, moringa flower, or drumstick 'chorchori'. The tree is very soft, so a skilled woodcutter carefully cuts the moringa branch at Tehatta, West Bengal, India on 24/04/2024.
