A large police presence and crime scene follow a man attacking a woman's head with a large machete at an apartment building on Day Avenue in Fairview, New Jersey, United States, on January 21, 2025. On Tuesday morning at approximately 10:10 a.m., the Fairview Police Department responds to an assault at an apartment building on Day Avenue in Fairview, NJ. Upon arrival, officers locate a 49-year-old female victim with a large laceration to her head after being struck with a machete. The victim is transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where she is hospitalized and is currently in stable condition. Josue G. Corea, a resident of the apartment building, approaches the victim near the common stairwell and strikes the victim in the head with a large machete. Josue Corea attempts to strike the victim several more times before ultimately fleeing the scene. Josue Corea is spotted and apprehended by police on River Road in Edgewater, New Jersey.
