The IRGC Navy Martyr Hassan Bagheri warship is sailing along the Persian Gulf during the IRGC marine parade, which is commemorating the Persian Gulf National Day, near the Bushehr nuclear power plant in the seaport city of Bushehr, Bushehr province, in the south of Iran, on April 29, 2024. The Persian Gulf National Day, celebrated on the 10th of Ordibehesht in the Iranian calendar, usually falls in late April or early May and commemorates the expulsion of the Portuguese from the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf in 1622 by the Safavid forces led by Imam Quli Khan under the command of Shah Abbas I.

According to one account, Ein Karem is the birthplace of John the Baptist. According to Christian beliefs, Jesus and the Virgin Mary visited Zara Ein Karem several times. It is believed that the second Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab passed it once during the Islamic conquest, and prayed in it. Ottoman records show that in 1596 Ein Kerem was a village in the Jerusalem area (the Jerusalem Brigade), with a population of only 160 people.
