The Milky Way is being seen over the Tea Estate in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, on June 17, 2024. The Milky Way is a huge collection of stars, dust, and gas. It is being called a spiral galaxy because if you could view it from the top or bottom, it would look like a spinning pinwheel. The Sun is being located on one of the spiral arms, about 25,000 light-years away from the center of the galaxy.

A general view of the LHAASO Observation base, the world's largest high-altitude observatory for cosmic rays, in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, China, June 7, 2023. The 1,188 Muse detectors and 5,216 electromagnetic particle detectors around the LHAASO observation base are evenly distributed and arranged in the spectacular ''LHAASO'' mound. It is reported that the national major science and technology infrastructure high altitude cosmic ray observatory LHAASO passed the national acceptance on May 10, 2023, its core scientific objectives are to explore the origin of high-energy cosmic rays and related cosmic evolution and high-energy celestial activities, and search for dark matter; Extensive search for gamma ray sources in the universe, especially in the Milky Way.
