Besides the Code Rood civil disobedience action, a completely legal demonstration against the gas extraction takes place on August 28th, organized by local groups. Hundreds of people gathered in Delfzijl to walk to the NAM location in Farmsum. As earthquakes become more intense and more frequent in the north of the Netherlands, there is mounting pressure on the government to reduce the amount of gas being extracted there.

After the demonstration some of the activists came closer to the oil company area, police had intervened to restore order by using dogs, force and pepper spray. Eventually the activists backed off after intervention by the police.
