Applicants for the ''Election Police'' submit their forms outside the District Police Range in Kathmandu, Nepal, on January 9, 2026, for the temporary police force being recruited for the March 5 election. Nepal Police announce a call for applications to recruit 133,980 election police personnel for the upcoming March 5 polls. Nepali citizens aged 18 to 54 who can read and write are eligible to apply, as per the Nepal Police. A high-level security meeting in October decides to recruit temporary police as additional support for the security of the March 5 parliamentary elections. The existing strength of security forces is not enough to enforce law and order for the single-phase election.
