Philippe Martinez, secretary general of the CGT (General Confederation of Labor) is present in the trade union procession during a new demonstration in Paris as part of a national day of strikes and protests called by the trade unions concerning the pension reform project, on March 11, 2023. The reform proposed by the government includes raising the minimum retirement age from 62 to 64 and increasing the number of years of contributions to receive a full pension. The unions have promised to keep up the pressure on the government, with an upcoming day of mass demonstrations, and some have even said they will continue with unlimited strikes.

The leaders of the main trade unions of workers and students made up of inter-unions meet behind a unitary banner, there is also the secretary general of the UNSA (National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions) Laurent Escure, the secretary general of the CGT union ( General Confederation of Labour) Philippe Martinez and the general secretary of the CFDT union (Democratic Confederation of Workers) Laurent Berger during the third day of strike and major demonstration in Paris on February 7, 2023 to protest against the government bill aimed at reforming the pension system by modifying the retirement age from 62 to 64 and increasing the minimum number of years of contribution from 42 to 43 annuities. The French population is mostly opposed to it.
