The jungle myna (Acridotheres fuscus) is a myna, a member of the starling family, found patchily distributed across much of the mainland of the tropical Indian Subcontinent Nepal, Bangladesh, and India except the arid zones of India. It has also been introduced either intentionally or accidentally into many other parts of the world including Fiji, Taiwan, the Andaman Islands, and parts of Japan. It has been introduced into the Andaman Islands and Fiji where it was introduced around 1890 to control insect pests in sugarcane. They have expanded on their own into some Pacific Islands such as Niuafo'ou where they are a threat to native bird species such as lories (Vini) with whom they compete especially for nest holes. A wild adult jungle myna bird sits on a dish antenna with a pigeon feather off his orange bill to build a nest at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on march 28, 2023.

Kolkata Dock System’s 118-year old Swing Bridge,The bridge, built by London-based West Wood Baillie & Co, as early as 1890, connects the turning basin with main Kidderpore Dock No 1. The original design allowed for the railway track to be held on the middle of the bridge, but this alignment was subsequently changed to avoid sharper curve at either end of the track. The original bridge carried a clear roadway of 23.33 ft for both slow and fast moving traffic. But not anymore. On re-commissioning of the bridge after repair work, undertaken by Jessop & Co , no heavy vehicular traffic will be allowed. The repair cost is estimated at Rs. 1.5 crore shared equally between Kolkata Port Trust, South Eastern Railway and West Bengal Government.

A banner reading 'Who is this 'property'? Whe don't need landlords since the houses belong to us. Stop our eviction, Build the city from down' is pictured during a gathering of solidarity to the tenants of the 'Kiezladen F54' and of protest against gentrification in the district of Neukoelln in Berlin, Germany on April 9, 2017. After the termination of the lease contract and a judicial trial the left-wing housold is likely going to be evicted from the police in the next months. The shortage of living space and the extreme increase of the rent in the last years (statistics speak of about 100% since 2009 for the district of Neukoelln) keeps generating situations of unrest in the city.
