Ahmed Samsam arrives at the Danish Supreme Court in Copenhagen, Denmark, on September 2, 2025, where the court is scheduled to announce its verdict in a much-debated case he brings forward. Samsam wants the court to force Danish intelligence services to admit that they recruit him when he is in Syria between 2012 and 2014. In Spain, he is sentenced for integrating into a militant group, but he seeks to have that case reopened and hopes that a favorable decision in the Danish Supreme Court can contribute to this.

Ashes and remnants of fire extinguisher foam are still visible in Collect Pond Park, across the street from the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse in New York City, as former US President Trump is arriving on the morning of the opening arguments, on April 22, 2024. The park has reopened to the public a few days after the death of Max Azzarello, 37, who died from his injuries after setting himself on fire at this location. Opening arguments are beginning today in Trump's trial, where he is accused of falsifying business records to cover up payments made to conceal information from voters in the 2016 election. This marks the first time a former U.S. president is facing a criminal trial.
