Artists are performing during the ''Kenduren Wonosalam'' festival in Jombang, Indonesia, on March 3, 2024. Piles of thorny fruit are being driven around the village before being thrown to the waiting crowds. The participants, usually consisting of groups of people, are climbing a structure made from durian fruit. Their task is to collect as many fruits as possible and to throw them back to friends in the crowd below, who then attempt to catch these hard, heavy, and spiky fruits. Those who catch a durian are entitled to eat it on the spot or take it home. The festival itself is a form of gratitude during the harvest season.
