Eva Meliana Pasaribu, daughter of the late Rico Sempurna Pasaribu who is the victim of premeditated murder, is delivering a press statement to journalists accompanied by representatives of the Medan Legal Aid Institute (LBH) and the Journalist Safety Committee (KKJ) after providing evidence and information to the Regional Military Police (Pomdam) I/Bukit Barisan in Medan City, North Sumatra, Indonesia, on July 18, 2024. In this premeditated murder, 4 victims are dying by being burned alive in their homes in the Karo Regency area, North Sumatra. The four murder victims are Rico Sempurna Pasaribu, who is a Tribrata TV journalist, Efrida Ginting, Rico Sempurna Pasaribu's wife, Sudiinveseti Pasaribu, and Lowi Situngkir, Rico Sempurna Pasaribu's grandson. Most recently, the North Sumatra Regional Police are naming 3 suspects in the murder plot, the three suspects namely Yunus Syahputra Tarigan, Rudi Apri Sembiring as the executor of the house burner, and Bebas Ginting as the person who is giving the order. However, according to the victim's daughter, Eva Meliana Pasaribu, TNI members are suspected of being involved in the death of her family based on the evidence found.

At approximately 9:01 p.m., Saturday evening on the 200 block of N. Latrobe Avenue, a 49-year-old male Rideshare driver was providing the ride share service when an unidentified male suspect entered through the rear door of his vehicle and pointed a firearm at the victim while demanding him to exit the vehicle. The Rideshare driver complied and while doing so, the suspect shot the victim in the leg before fleeing the scene in the victim's gray sedan. The Rideshare driver was transported to the hospital and is in good condition. There are no suspects in custody.

Police are responding to a slashing attack with evidence and blood visible on the ground in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on May 12, 2024. They are currently searching for a suspect after a man was found with serious injuries and later died at the hospital.
