Protest For Better Wages And Better Public Services In Toulouse

Nearly 2,000 people are demonstrating in Toulouse, France, on March 19, 2024, in a joint protest with all unions (CGT, SUD, CFTC, UNSA, etc.) against austerity, inflation, and for wage equality between men and women, as well as for environmental concerns. The banner reads 'School scorned, exhausted... Stop! Means Respect, Work conditions.' All unions have called for a day of strike and protest for better wages and to demand an end to what they describe as the dismantling of public services such as education, health, and public workers' services. Protests and strikes are taking place all over France in a national day of action. Riot police are intervening to seize a banner made by high school students and have made two arrests for wearing masks. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
