Jatayu Earth Center
The sculpture of Jatayu at the Jatayu Earth Center in Chadayamangalam, Kerala, India, is being displayed on April 6, 2024. This sculpture is recognized as the world's largest bird sculpture. According to the legend from the Hindu epic Ramayana, Jatayu was a demi-god with the form of a vulture. He is known for his attempt to rescue Sita when the demon king Ravana was abducting her to Lanka. Jatayu engaged in a fierce battle with Ravana but was ultimately defeated and had his wing clipped by Ravana. He is said to have fallen onto the rocks in Chadayamangalam, and this sculpture marks the spot where Jatayu is believed to have fallen. (Photo by Creative Touch Imaging Ltd./NurPhoto)
