Waterworld
Kampong Pluk, Tonle Sap, Cambodia. A man sits on the steps of his families’ house soon to be submerged by the lake. For most of the year the lake is fairly small&mdasharound one meter deep and with an area of 2,700 square kilometers (1,000 sq mi). When water is pushed up from the Mekong into the lake, it increases its area to approximately 16,000 square kilometers (6,200 sq mi) around five times its size in dry season. The Tonle Sap Lake is situated in the heart of Cambodia and is South East Asia’s largest fresh water lake. The 1.5 million people that live their lives on the lake are an ethnically diverse population of Khmers, Cham, and Vietnamese who experience a life isolated from both the modern world and the progress that is happening in much of Cambodia. -- Go to http://www.nurphoto.com to see more
