Tourism In Eastern Turkey

On 11 November 2018, the Church of Saint Gregory stands near the modern border between Turkey and Armenia. The church is part of the historic fortress city of Ani, which was once the capital of medieval Armenia and home to nearly 100,000 people, but is now an abandoned and derelict cluster of ruins. As of 2018, the Turkish government has launched a project to restore the ruins and promote tourism in the culturally and historically significant site. (Photo by Diego Cupolo/NurPhoto)
