Tourism In Eastern Turkey
On 11 November 2018, cows graze in front of the fortress walls of the Ruins of Ani near the Turkish-Armenian border, 45 km east of Kars. Ani was historically the Armenian capital and home to nearly 100,000 people, but was repeatedly sacked and destroyed through numerous wars. As of 2018, the Turkish government has launched a project to restore the ruins and promote tourism in the culturally and historically significant site. (Photo by Diego Cupolo/NurPhoto)
