Mucilage Cleaning Has Started In The Sea Of Marmara
People rest by the sea while municipality workers operate to clean the mucilage on the surface of the Caddebostan shore of the Marmara Sea in Istanbul, Turkey, on June 8, 2021. Sea snot is a jelly-like substance formed by the excessive proliferation of microscopic plants called phytoplankton. The thick layer caused by the viscous fluid cannot be cleaned despite all efforts and is a serious threat to the biodiversity of the Marmara Sea. (Photo by Erhan Demirtas/NurPhoto)
