Cremation Along The Bagmati River In Pashupatinath
A funeral pyre along the bank of the Bagmati River burns as a body is cremated at Pashupatinath in Nepal. According to Hindu religion and traditions the dead must be cremated. Along the Bagmati River next to the Pashupatinath Temple complex are ten allocated spaces for cremation and all day funerals are being held. The bodies are cremated according to custom and the ashes and remains are swept into the holy waters. The Bagmati runs into the Ganges further South and is considered equally holy to Hindus.
