Mural motivated by the death of Mahsa Amini in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on November 18, 2022. Iranian-Canadian artist Mahyar Amiri's mural entitled 'Regime' depicts a woman in red hijab dripping in red paint, references the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurd who had been recently visiting Tehran when she was arrested by local morality police for allegedly wearing her hijab too loosely. She died in police custody three days later. Her death has sparked a wave of protests and brutal crackdowns throughout Iran.

According to a presidential decree published on Saturday, Turkey withdrew from Istanbul Convention, a treaty on preventing violence against women and domestic violence which was signed in 2011. Opponents of the treaty in Turkey say that the charter encourages divorce, is a threat to the traditional family unity and the order of the society due to the references on gender equality.
