Canadian Pro-Khalistan Sikhs protest against the Indian government in Malton, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, on May 06, 2012. Thousands of Sikhs attended a Nagar Kirtan to celebrate Vaisakhi and to show their discontent with the Indian government. The Khalistan movement refers to a movement which seeks to create a separate Sikh state, called Khalistan in the Punjab region of India. The territorial definition of the proposed nation is disputed, with some believing it should be carved simply out of the Indian state of Punjab, where Sikhs are the majority population. The Khalistan movement has been declared a terrorist movement by the government of India and it's support and fundraising is illegal within India.

A red heart-shaped balloon floats in front of the statue of the Republic on June 13, 2020 as several thousand people gathered in the Republic Square in Paris at the call of the committee "Truth for Adama" and Adama Traoré's sister, Assa Traoré, to participate in a demonstration against police violence. This event echoes the Black Lives Matter movement and the death of George Floyd in the USA as well as a new investigation into the case of Adama Traoré, who died in 2016 following his arrest for police custody. Many slogans called for Justice for Adama, BLM and denounced racism in the police.
