Former Minister Duminda Dissanayake is arrested over the detection of an assembled T-56 weapon without a license in Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka, on May 24, 2025. The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) arrests him in connection with the discovery of a gold-plated T-56 assault rifle found at a luxury apartment complex in Wellawatte, Colombo. The weapon is discovered on May 20 inside a woman's travel bag at the apartment complex, leading to the arrest of two women and subsequently Dissanayake, who resides at a high-rise apartment in Thimbirigasyaya. Dissanayake is remanded until May 29, 2025, by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court.

Oshala Herath, a civil activist, and counsel Hafeel Farisz are coming out of the Supreme Court premises in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on May 8, 2024. The Supreme Court is ruling in another landmark decision today that State Minister Diana Gamage is ineligible to serve as a Member of Parliament because she is not a Sri Lankan citizen. Diana Gamage's disqualification by the high court is resulting in the loss of her parliamentary seat.

Sri Lankan Bond dealer, Arjun Aloysius ( dressed in a white shirt and a blue tie with white stripes) who is embroiled in an insider trading scam at Sri Lanka's Central Bank walks into a Magistrate Court escorted by police officers in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Friday 16 February 2018. Aloysius is the son-in-law of former Governor of Central Bank Arjuna Mahendran and both have been accused of manipulating treasury bond auctions causing a loss of over US$11 million to the state during 2015 and 2016. A special committee appointed by Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena produced a presidential report into the high-profile bond scandal named Mahendran and Aloysius as guilty and recommended the state to recover its losses from them. The judge refused Aloysius's request for bail and remanded him further till March 2.
