The Indonesia Reforestation Polemic
An environmentalism activist is investigating the eye-level view of a location in the Leuser Ecosystem forest area that has been converted into an oil palm plantation in Aceh and North Sumatra, Indonesia, on June 6, 2018. The Non-Governmental Organization Sustainable Forest Advocacy (Lembahtari) is protesting against several oil palm plantations within the Gunung Leuser National Park area. Lembahtari Chairman, Sayed Zainal, states that the six-year-old palm oil plantation has been absorbing the community's water pockets in the Gunung Leuser protected forest area, leading to a series of flood disasters.
