President Of Germany Is Guided In Old Nicosia
President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany is entering his car after touring the old city of Nicosia, where the barricades that separate the Greek and Turkish sides of the city, also known as the ''Green Line,'' are visible, in Nicosia, Cyprus, on February 12, 2024. He is being guided by the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and the Mayor of Nicosia, Constantinos Yiorkadjis. Nicosia remains the last divided European capital. This visit marks the first by a German President since the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus in 1960 and the start of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
