Vasco Da Gama Bridge In Lisbon
The pillars of the Vasco Da Gama Bridge are emerging during low tide in Lisbon, Portugal, on March 30, 2024. The Vasco da Gama Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge spanning the Tagus River in the Greater Lisbon area, connects Montijo and Sacavem, near the Parque das Nacoes, the site of Expo '98. Opened on April 4, 1998, the bridge, with its combined length of 17 km (12 km of bridge and 5 km of viaducts), held the title of the longest bridge in Europe until it was surpassed by the Crimean Bridge in May 2018.
