Jatayu Earth Center
Cable cars are leading to the sculpture of Jatayu at the Jatayu Earth Center in Chadayamangalam, Kerala, India, on April 6, 2024. This sculpture of Jatayu is the world's largest bird sculpture. According to legend, Jatayu was a demi-god in the Hindu epic Ramayana who took the form of a vulture. When the demon king Ravana was attempting to abduct Sita to Lanka, Jatayu tried to rescue her. Jatayu fought valiantly with Ravana, but Ravana soon defeated him, clipping his wing. Jatayu fell onto the rocks in Chadayamangalam, and it is said that this is the very rock on which Jatayu fell.
