A false cell of 9 sq meters was put on display during a festival called 'Taul'art' to raise awareness on the harsh conditions in France's jails. Up to four people can be held in a cell conceived for two people. March, 28th 2016. Toulouse. France. Differents NGOs like The Human Rights League, the Genepi (NGO for imnates), etc. put on display a mocked typical French prison cell of 9 square meters. This kind of cell is conceived to held two inmates but often receive up to four. The NGOs organize a festival called "Taul'Art" or "Jail outside Walls" to raise awareness of the harsh conditions of incarceration in French prisons. Passers-by are invited to spend some time in the cell. Inmates must live, sleep, have wash, go to toilets, watch TV, distract themselves in this tiny place. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
