Nepal Launches Special Immunization Campaign Against Polio
A Nepali health worker head is going door-to-door to administer polio drops to children under the age of 5 following the government's special immunization campaign in Lalitpur District, Nepal, on July 24, 2024. The Government of Nepal is starting the drive on July 24 after detecting the polio virus in a sample of water taken from the confluence of the Tukucha rivulet and the Bagmati river at Teku, Kathmandu. Health workers and women community health volunteers are administering the 'OPV' to newborns and children below five years. The immunization program is running until July 27. Two hundred and eighty thousand children are being administered the OPV under the special immunization campaign, the government announced. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
