Nepal Launches Special Immunization Campaign Against Polio
A Nepali health worker is holding a vial of 'OPV' as she poses for a photo during a door-to-door immunization campaign following the government's special immunization campaign in Lalitpur District, Nepal, on July 24, 2024. The Government of Nepal is starting the drive on July 24 after detecting the polio virus in a sample of water taken from the confluence of the Tukucha rivulet and the Bagmati river at Teku, Kathmandu. Health workers and women community health volunteers are administering the 'OPV' to newborns and children below five years. The immunization program is running until July 27. Two hundred and eighty thousand children are being administered the OPV under the special immunization campaign, the government announces. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
