Seoul Launches Trial Runs Of Han River Ferry As Eco-Friendly Transit Option
A Han River Bus departs for Jamsil from Ttukseom Pier in Gwangjin District, Seoul, South Korea, on July 1, 2025, marking the start of its trial service. The eco-friendly passenger vessel, powered by electric and hybrid diesel-electric engines, is the first of its kind introduced by the Seoul Metropolitan Government as part of a new public water transportation initiative. The route covers approximately 31.5 kilometers and connects seven piers: Magok, Mangwon, Yeouido, Oksu, Apgujeong, Ttukseom, and Jamsil. With a capacity of up to 199 passengers, the ferry is scheduled to begin official service in September, while trial rides for the public are held every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday through August 30.
