Extinction Rebellion DC throws street party to protest methane leaks

Members of Extinction Rebellion release smoke canisters during a street party at the headquarters of Washington Gas Light (WGL) for their "End methane, electrify DC" campaign. The party is a protest against expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure by as well as the company's role in methane leaks that currently plague DC. Methane is the most potent greenhouse gas driving global warming, 80 times more effective in trapping heat than carbon dioxide over the course of 20 years. (Photo by Allison Bailey/NurPhoto)
