Extinction Rebellion DC throws street party to protest methane leaks
Metropolitan (DC) Police officers push protesters back a second time during a street party hosted by climate activism group Extinction Rebellion DC. The party is part of the group's "End methane, electrify DC" campaign. It is a protest against expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure by Washington Gas, as well as the compay's role in methane leaks that currently plague DC. Methane is the most potent greenhouse gas driving global warming, 80 times more effective in trapping heat than carbon dioxide over the course of 20 years. (Photo by Allison Bailey/NurPhoto)
