Extinction Rebellion DC throws street party to protest methane leaks

A boat blocks the road during a street party hosted by climate activism group Extinction Rebellion as part of the group's "End methane, electrify DC" campaign. The party is a protest against expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure by Washington Gas Light (WGL), as well as the company's role in methane leaks that currently plague DC. They are urging WGL to "jump ship" from fossil fuels and commit to lean energy. Methane is the most potent greenhouse gas driving global warming, 80 times more effective in trapping heat than carbon dioxide over the course of 20 years. (Photo by Allison Bailey/NurPhoto)
