Due to ongoing heatwaves and droughts, the rice paddies dry out and crack in Sangju, South Korea, on July 7, 2025. The state weather agency issues the season's first heat wave warning for all parts of South Korea. The warning is issued as of 10 a.m., according to the Korea Meteorological Administration. It is issued 18 days earlier than July 25 of last year, when the country experiences the worst heat wave ever.

Tefe (Amazonas), 6th Oct 2023 - Boiled Dolphins: Researchers and veterinarians are conducting a necropsy on a boto (freshwater dolphin) found dead in Lake Tefe, near the Amazon River, amidst the worst drought ever experienced in the Amazon. At least 150 animals - 10% of the region's population - were found dead and rescued by the Mamiraua Institute between late September and early October. Investigations carried out by biologists and veterinarians indicate that they died from heat as the water temperatures reached up to 40?C.
