Chile: Ashes Scattered In The Pilmaiquén River
The monument to the disappeared along the Pilmaiquen River is being visited in Osorno, Chile, on March 24, 2024. Here, the ashes of Mrs. Dina Uribe are being scattered in the same river where it is believed that the body of her husband, Santiago, was thrown after he was arrested and made to disappear during the early days of Augusto Pinochet's military dictatorship. Santiago Domingo Aguilar Duhau, who was the Governor of the Department of La Union until September 11, 1973, and a Communist Party militant, was Dina's husband. Dina Uribe also served as the first president of the Agrupacion de Familiares de Detenidos Desaparecidos de Osorno. (Photo by Fernando Lavoz/NurPhoto)
