Chile: Ashes Scattered In The Pilmaiquén River
Murals with human rights themes are being painted on a bridge over the Pilmaiquen River in Osorno, Chile, on March 24, 2024. The ashes of Mrs. Dina Uribe are being scattered in the Pilmaiquen River, where the body of her husband, Santiago, was supposedly thrown after he was arrested and made to disappear during the early days of Augusto Pinochet's military dictatorship. Santiago Domingo Aguilar Duhau, Dina's husband, served as the Governor of the Department of La Union until September 11, 1973, and was a militant of the Communist Party. Dina Uribe is serving as the first president of the Agrupacion de Familiares de Detenidos Desaparecidos de Osorno on this date. (Photo by Fernando Lavoz/NurPhoto)
